Consumer Review data from 2023 for Car Reliability by 30 brands indicate Japanese carmakers dominate the top of the list (the top two spots for example) while [my words: quality German cars are no longer made] with Mercedes-Benz second from the bottom of the list, only spared the shame of being on the bottom by Chrysler.
It's different for different brands, but IMO Benz hasn't made a good car after 1995 (durability, repairability, quality of product, and sound engineering).
Manufacturers no longer build cars drivers want to buy and drive, but only build cars technocrats will allow them to build (disposable, short-service lived, cheap common components) which in turn means people can only buy what the technocrats allow them to.
The 'end game' is to replace internal combustion engines [ICE] with EV's [electric vehicles], HEV's [hybrid electric vehicles], and PHEV's [plug-in hybrid electric vehicles].
- Short version: TPTB don't want the little people to have cars or freedom of movement.
