The USG 'offishul' COLA (cost of living) adjustment for Social Security beneficiaries was 2.8%....based on the 'offishul' 1.58% inflation rate.

- Well, OK, since YOU say so.

 

Not that a 23% increase in US median income has anything to do with inflation.

- Or, a 31% increase in the CPI.

 

So, was inflation 1.58%...or 23%, or 31%?

 

Oh, no.
