Case Shiller has estimated the top 20 places to own a home in the US (attached) for May-Jun 2016.

 

Home price appreciation outpaces core inflation at a blistering average of 5% (try and get THAT from your savings account or CD) in these locations, some at higher rates than others like one of my favorite places Tampa at #5.

 

Then there is THE absolute worst performer of them all, the bottom of the pile, New York.
