[A friend writes me with an interesting theory. Plausible too. Gaining currency as well. df]
In retrospect, this 'coup' appears to have been staged as a sort of Reichstag bombing incident.News today is that the coup contingent was very small and disorganized. There were, in fact, very few tanks in street. Captured soldiers said they thought they were partaking in a training exercise. Sources say if this was a coup it was probably the most disorganized coup in Middle East history. If it was a legit coup then civilians in street would have been killed.....it would have been ruthless, like other successful coups in the Middle East. This one was half-hearted and folded like a tent.Erdogan is now using the pretext to sack senior military officers, judges, prosecutors, etc. 2,745 judges and prosecutors were removed today across Turkey. What did they have to do with the 'coup?' Basically, Erdogan is using this to further cement his ruthelss, authoritarian grip in Turkey.Erdogan has long used a Muslim cleric, Fethullah Gulen, who was granted amnesty here in US, as his bogeyman for assuming more and more control.Erdogan claims that the attempted coup was carried out by a clique within the military loyal to Gulen's movement. But Gulen condemned the coup in the strongest terms yesterday and wrote afterward, "As someone who suffered under multiple military coups during the past five decades, it is especially insulting to be accused of having any link to such an attempt. I categorically deny such accusations."It's looking more and more like a False Flag event.###
...and since that was written last night, here’s this morning’s headline on CBS News: "Cleansing" sweeps up thousands in post-coup Turkey

Turkey is already a NATO member; what if this is Erdogan's audition to join the EU? Sort of a "THIS is what would happen HERE, should there be any Brexit-type nonsense"? You just KNOW that would warm what passes for Merkel's heart

NOTE: *I* do not consider Brexit "nonsense" - thought it was about damn TIME 'the Cousins' remembered who they are ;-)
Look at pictures of the conscripts on the bridge.
They werent equipped to hold that bridge. No proper webbing, no ammo, no respirators, no rations.
No, they were sent to be captured.
