[Monday was election day in Canada and Canadians swept aside their Conservative government in favor of reactionary liberals and progressives. In the process, Israel lost one of its staunchest allies in the world, the indispensable Stephen Harper. The Nations are in one of its recurring Jew-hating frenzies (“in every generation...”) so why should Canada be the exception? But there’s a valuable lesson here for Jews and the Jewish state, if only they accept the bitter truth. Don’t pin your hopes on the political fortunes of leaders in other countries - betting that Obama’s successor will be any better, for instance.
