Well, feminists are upset that he wasn't convicted on the felony rape charge, but instead was found guilty of misdemeanor sexual assault, such as sex with a minor.
The dude could do 11 years behind bars. But, he may have still gotten a raw deal if the young lady consented to sexual intercourse.
It's not like she'd be the first minor to change her mind later. She testified that she said "no." But when it's just the two of them, who's to say one way or the other. It's he said she said.

A misdemeanor by definition has a maximum sentence of one year.
