The idiotic statements emanating from the State Dept. and the White House about the "root cause" of Islamic terrorism (jobs, boredom, poverty, etc.) are part of Obama's effort to dumb down the debate about Islam/terrorism to the kind of inane pop sociology that was in fashion decades-ago to explain African-American dysfunction. It didn't explain anything then, and it doesn't explain anything today. But unfortunately, it still resonates with a certain audience. But fortunately, it bombs with many others.
