I was reading a technical article dealing with "smart TV's" and had intended to share it with a few people. The e-mail link required me to establish a Googlemail account to do so.
- Not only no, but Hell NO!
I don't use Google for anything. Not e-mail, not searches, nada-zip-bupkis.
- They are too intrusive and sell your data to third parties for profit, after data-basing everything they can about you. Just.not.interested.
There are much better search algorithms and anonymous search engines that do NOT store or sell user data.
So, when I ran across this graphic at curmudgeonlyskeptical. BlogSpot.com I unashamedly borrowed it.
While Samsung does warn that their "Smart TV's" record your living room chatter, buried in the fine print is the little nugget that their voice recognition system not only captures your private conversations, but also pass them to third parties.
How about when your TV watches you?
You are probably NOT ready to hear about the embedded cameras in 'smart TV's' that can watch YOU while you watch TV, and pass that data to third parties. They can even be turned on remotely when your TV set is turned off.
- Great for the marketing and sales of chips, snacks, etc right?
- Also great for ...."Smith! Yes YOU! Smith, Winston #135789. You're not trying hard enough. THIS is what I want you to do. Not all of us have the honour of serving at the Malabar front."
