ZoNation - Cancer's Horrible, But It's Not a Reason to Kill Yourself...............

The Oregon 'Death with Dignity' law has no dignity. Zo argues that God has better plans for all of us, rather than suicide (even if its legal)

Interesting opinion but why? Have you had terminal cancer and decided to die in your own body waste rather then to take your life before the pain becomes unbearable? I think most people who say suicide is unacceptable have never faced personal death by horror. Sure they have seen others die but because they haven't sat across the desk from their own oncologist and been slapped in the face with the horrible news they can make their decision without the encumberance of the horrible consequences. In 6 days I will have another lobectomy. I am hoping for the best but having gone through what can only be described as a horrible and painful experience with my previous lobectomy I am not confident. I tell myself pain is my friend it means I'm still alive. But I have had over nine years of pain on my right side and down my back from the previous operation and now can expect the same on the left side. The truth is I wish I never knew, wish there was no ability to diagnose this disease and no reason to open my chest and spread my ribs 4 inches apart. I think it would have been better to have just died from it years ago without ever having to deal with the real consequences of "fighting" cancer. But I do live in Oregon and sooner or later the pain and loss of dignity/quality of life will allow me to make a better decision. A pill is so much easier, cleaner and family friendly then a .357, don't you think...

I agree with anon.

I didn't have a choice regarding where, when or to who I was born.

But if the circumstance that befell this young girl happen to me.....I'm outta here on MY terms!
