In the mid-1990s I wrote a letter to the editor of the Macon
Telegraph rebutting claims made in an editorial page column of that paper. The
response to that letter, both positive and negative, was much more than I
expected, and I eventually began writing a regular newspaper column (in
different publications). Soon after, with the help of some very good friends, I
began a website called Grassroots Republicans that I believe was one of the
very first blogs on the internet; in fact, the word ‘blog’ was not yet in use.
Since January of 2011 My
View of the World has been home to my commentaries, and it has served me
well as an outlet for my thoughts and frustrations. There have been limits
however, to what I can offer on this page, so the time has come to move up and
out to a new home called Dispatches
From the Conservative Underground. There I will continue to offer my
insights into all things political, and I will also have help from some friends
who can offer differing perspectives on the issues that affect us. My friend
Ken Carroll, who was one of the original members of Grassroots Republicans and
currently blogging at Below the Gnat Line, will be there offering his unique
perspective. Also joining us will be Tom Knighton, author and former publisher
of the Albany Journal, who will add some Libertarian flavor to the mix.
Periodically we will bring in guest columnists who can add their own
interesting and informative insights.
Thank you to my readers who have made My View of the World worth the effort. I hope you will follow me to
Dispatches From the
Conservative Underground and check out our new home. For the near future I
will continue to post here as well, but Dispatches
will have even more to offer.
