Mixing Religion and Politics: An American Tradition



It is a well-known saying in America that there are two things you should never talk about in polite company – religion and politics. Sadly so many people listened to that bad advice that we now have a population that is largely ignorant on both subjects, and those just happen to be the two most important factors in most of our lives. There is hope however, because there is a new Pew Research Center poll on Religion in Public life shows that an increasing number of Americans (72%) believe the influence of religion in American life is waning, and most consider that to be a bad thing. What is even more interesting is that the poll indicates more people believe religion should play a more prominent role in American politics.      (continue reading)
