Israel Grooms Its Next Leftist Leader..................from Dan Friedman

[In the parallel universe the USA and Israel inhabit, rising political figures from both countries must make the obligatory visit before they can be taken seriously at home.
Yitzhak Herzog, Israel's Labor leader (15 seats), did so Tuesday and by all accounts Obama's people gave him a warm welcome and plenty of encouragement too. For those who still harbor the notion that Israel's poisonous Left was a casualty of Protective Edge, get ready for a miraculous resurrection. Being anointed by the USA is still a winning ticket.
Maybe we’ll see some twists and turns, but all roads in Israel eventually lead to the Left and reach the same dead end. And when the obsessives hit the wall, they brush themselves off and, more determined than ever, rush headlong back in the same direction. Baby, it hurts so good! df]
