People my age grew up thinking the Soviet Union would always be the other superpower, that the Berlin Wall was a permanent part of our landscape, and that Republicans and Democrats would always own the political landscape. Most of us have also learned over the years that things do change. The Berlin Wall has been torn down as was the Soviet Union, and it is beginning to look as though our two major political parties are headed into the junk heap of history as well.       (continue reading)
