The Partition of India was the process of dividing the subcontinent along sectarian lines, which took place in 1947 as India gained its independence from the British Raj. The northern, predominantly Muslim sections of India became the nation of Pakistan, while the southern and majority Hindu section became the Republic of India.
[From time to time I get messages from Hindus keeping me abreast of events in India. I don’t know why I caught their attention, but they seem to identify their struggle with Israel’s. Of course, India has had a "Muslim problem" for as long as anyone can remember. It was finally dealt with in 1947, after the British left - and it's only been a partial success. Remember, partition was also tried in Israel along about the same time. But the region's Muslims would have none of that, and they have been trying (unsuccessfully) to destroy the Jewish state from Day One to this very afternoon. df]
