So how is this all going to pan out. The Kurds look like they will get their own 'state', with Turkeys blessing. Does this mean that Turkey will boot their Kurds into 'Kurdistan'? Iran is now our best buddy because they don't want ISIS/Sunnis on their border. Or is it a diversion on their part to fool us into ignoring their nuke plans. Obama won't do a thing because to act would mean his hasty withdrawal from Iraq was a mistake and we all know he never makes mistakes (except Benghazi, Bergdahl, and Obamacare). The west can't do a lot apart from England sending £ 3 million of aid (Female specific sanitary packages) because we no longer have the military capability to do anything, although Trooping the Colour today was nice. Hopefully DJ is right that they will over extend themselves in their rabid attack in Maliki (who needs to go but not by this mob) and will become easy prey for anyone who decides to take them on. Volunteers please!!!!

1. For 3 years now there have been signs that the Turks want to retry Mustafa Kemal [Ataturk] original plan for a Confederation of Turk/Kurd. The Kurds have to associate with someone or they will be isolated and partitioned again. Effectively adding the Syrian/Iraqi Kurdish areas to this new Confederation.

2. Iran is worried about ISIS and sees an opportunity to take southern Iraq.

3. Notice the Kurdish fighting in Syria and Iraq vs ISIS - Securing the southern border of Kurdistan.

4. ISIS is overextended - But the reactions of the neighbours are more to partition Iraq than to stop ISIS.

5. Timing is good - weak US President. Russia busy with Ukraine. China/India do not have expeditionary capacity. GCC/Jordan do not have the logistics to intervene. Nobody else left that counts.
