Cautiously Optimistic...................from Dan Friedman

[One can never be sure about the true intentions of Israeli politicians. They change colors faster than a chameleon. “Hardliner” Netanyahu himself proves the point, as did Ariel “the hawk” Sharon with his “disengagement.”
 
Which brings to mind Economics Minister Naftali Bennett, a wealthy and observant Jew who (ostensibly) stands squarely on the nationalist religious right. In the coming months we are going to see political upheavals in the Israeli government as well as more jarring instability in the neighborhood that could include a clash with Iran. We’ll just have to wait and see if Bennett can resist the temptations – especially the lure of Oslo - that have flipped so many of his political predecessors. I hope he goes from strength to strength. Right now it’s too soon to tell. df]
