[Throughout Obama’s tenure in the White House, establishment conservative types with bylines and blue blazers have thumbed their noses at the coarse conversation taking place between the rabble on the Internet. I’ve had a front seat at the show for years, and I can tell you that is beginning to change. As an example, read the Op Ed below penned by one of the deans of neocon public intellectuals, Norman Podhoretz. You’ll find it in today’s Wall St. Journal, the flagship of middle-of-the-road conservatism no less. Podhoretz belatedly picks up a theme (or is it a meme?) that’s been old news in the Web’s dark corners for ages: Obama’s Snafus are not the mistakes of a bumbler, they’re the “successful” efforts of a man who knows exactly what he’s trying to accomplish. Not exactly a revelation for conspiracy-theorists sitting in front of our computers in pajamas. Yes, the polite right is finally telling us what we already know. Welcome aboard just the same. df]

The president may look incompetent on Syria. But his behavior fits his strategy to weaken America abroad.
