A story and video about the political life and times of Marion Barry and his role in the decision by Walmart to pull out of its plan to build six stores in Washington, DC.
The decision was based on Barry and the rest of the city council demanding through the Living Wage bill that Walmart and other box stores be subject to a minimum wage rate of $12.50 an hour instead of the $8.25 that is currently the law for all other businesses, rendering the project unviable.
It's another example of politicians doing what is best for politicians to the detriment of the people they represent!
