Say what you will about Hugo Chavez, but he DID manage to repatriate Venezuela's 200T of Gold bullion in the course of about four months.
Last year Germany was told by the RBNY that it would have to 'wait' seven years for its 300T of Gold bullion to be repatriated.
Many speculated at the time that the lengthy wait was because it would take that long to come up with enough physical Gold to honor Germany's request.
I do not know whom to credit for this, but this picture of Germany's "missing" Gold on a milk carton pretty well sums the situation up.
For other sovereigns who "think" they own Gold in offshore depositories, well "best of luck" but I suspect they waited too longa and are now out of luck...and Gold.
