Actually in the 1700's the pirates in the Mediterranean were Muslims. Thomas Jefferson formed the US Navy to oppose the kidnappings and high seas robberies by Muslims. Also we bought slaves in northern Africa from Muslims. So we partially owe Muslims for Slavery and for the formation of the US Navy.
