Below is an email just received from an American residing in Israel. He served in the IDF, and his son is serving now. He is also a scientist who has worked with the Pentagon and numerous American defense contractors. I use him as a source because over years of correspondence he’s made the right call on the big things and the small.
If, as reported, an Egyptian-brokered truce is in the works, then Israel will have again reverted to type and plucked defeat out of the jaws of victory. It’s the same hackneyed scenario we’ve seen since 1948. Israel has always let their mortal enemies live to fight another day. In Hollywood, as in the Middle East, this latest production is designed to set the stage for another sequel, and in turn, beefs-up the immensely profitable franchise known as the Arab-Israeli conflict – the longest running series since the 100 Years’ War.
In a perverse way, it makes one look forward to Iran’s announcement that they’ve finished work on a few H-bombs. That’s probably the one thing that will keep the Israeli “leadership” honest and end this charade once and for all. Or maybe not.
