Mile And A Half High Mushroom Cloud Near Camp Minden Louisiana Shrevepor...

Some sort of an explosion or something sent a plume of smoke 7000 feet into the air. This happened in Louisiana near Camp Minden on Monday night around 11:30pm. Multiple witnesses apparently reported that they saw something falling down from the sky towards the earth before the mushroom cloud was created. H/T Doverthere

Camp Minden is a Louisiana National Guard ammo dump. Who could be surprised by an explosion there?

Camp Minden is the old Louisiana Army Ammunition plant. Made Artillery shells for many years. That plant closed back in 90s and other tenants use it. GOEX black powder plant is out there and due to the nature of black powder, every couple of years they have an OOPS and there is a big bang. The company in question for this sweats the explosive filler out of old bombs. A few years ago they had a major oops and had a very big bang. Most of this stuff is remotely operated so usually no casualties. There are eath covered igloo magazines all over the place out there. Weather was clear so not from a lightning strike. Most likely the filler in something old got "twitchy" and spontaneously detonated, taking the rest of the magazine with it. It happens. I live about 15 miles from there and heard the explosion.
