One of the reasons why I resigned from my Amman-based Jordan project was that the consultaning company wanted me to go to Sanaa, Yemen.
After assessing security there, I decided it was not worth the risk, effort, and also the concern of my family was greater than when I went to Kabul in 2006/7.
Anti-Islam film protests spread across Middle East
The same company also wanted me to go to Qena, Egypt (went there twice in 2009, it's the kind of city which, if the world needed an enema, the tube would be inserted there) where recent reports indiate an increase in robbery and harassment of Westerners on the road between Qena and Luxor (airport, hotels).
