Freeloading...............from Rico

The link here is to a brief YouTube clip of John Stossel discussing "freeloaders."

It is a clear demonstration of the 'entitlement mentality' where the idea of 'working the system' has trumped the idea of 'working.'

It reminded me of the beach tourists in Florida. Seeing the pretty seagulls, they start to toss popcorn, potato chips, or whatever to see the seaguls wheel and dive for the treats. What FUN!
- BUT, the fun-loving tourists are actually doing a very bad thing. They are 'training' the birds to behave in a certain way. The birds come to 'expect' free food, and dive for it, often attacking if there is no tasty morsel. They learn the 'freeloading' behavior very quickly, and beachside restaurants have to string monofilament lines overhead to keep the birds from diving and stealing food right off the customers plates. Gull beaks and talons are sharp, and they have injured quite a few folks.

Watch the video and decide for yourself, but by innocently (and cluelessly) trying to 'help' passersby are creating a problem...not solving it.
