About the wall of dust: The water feature in the photo is Tempe Town Lake. It is a damned up section of the Salt River. The Salt River doesn't actually flow that far South anymore so the lake is filled with water from the Colorado River which is something like 200 miles away. In the background is the tail end of Camelback Mountain. The parking lot at the bottom is the Northern-most parking area at Arizona State University.
