Moshe Silman Sets Himself on Fire, Ignites New Social Justice Movement

As I argued this morning, "the guy was less a 'social justice' protester than a disgruntled social services flunky." See: "'Social Justice' Protester Self-Immolates in Tel Aviv."

Oh, it's a sad, preventable tragedy, but that kind of self-endangerment should not be a model for "social justice" activists, who simply want more and more from an already generous state. See the update here: "Moshe Silman Self-Immolation Mobilizes New Protests Against Israel."



As the Jerusalem Post writes:

While we can be sympathetic to Silman’s despondency, his self-destructive act, which has effectively made it impossible for him to ever rehabilitate his life, should not serve as a symbol for a movement claiming to stand for social change and tikkun olam. Self-immolation is nothing to emulate.
Exactly.

I guess that I should not be shocked to see that the mob was more interested in taking a picture than preventing this guy from becoming a crispy critter.
