Help Our Friend Murray Build a Ballista..............

Please donate to Project Agrippa

Project Agrippa is about building a fully working reconstruction of an ancient Greek/Roman ballista as an educational exercise.

"I'm Murray Hill and for ten years I've been researching and building ancient artillery, catapults.

I intend to undertake a PhD based on a comparative study of Greek and Roman Artillery next year and Project Agrippa is the largest machine of the collection that will be used in the study. Though local support I've been able to secure most of the materials I need to build the catapult, but I still need to be able to gathering everything together and get some of the speicist tools needed to build this machine.

Contributions to this project will enable me to to do that.
Contributions will help pay for transport costs, incidently items such as glue, nails, sand paper and so forth. Even if we don't reach the funding goal any contributions will help move the project foward.

Once Agrippa is built it will be displayed at a major event in Febuary 2013 and from there will be used to gather an understanding of the operation of artillery in the pre-gunpowder world. Finally it will become part of a collection that be used for dispalys and exhibitions for the public.

At present there is weakness in the understanding of these machines with most kids learning from computer games. Over the last tens years I've been able to entertain and educate many younger people as well as inspire them to continue learning.

Project Agrippa is a major step up in the level of what I do and will have a coresponding impact. You can help to achieve this aim.

Even you are not able to contribute directly simply sharing this project will help. they more people who take an interest the easier it will be to get there."
