The problems faced by the people of Long Island are not unique as they are occurring in virtually every city and every town across the United States as well as in countries around the world.
Also not unique is the fact that the politicians in Washington on both sides of the aisle along with Barack Obama are more concerned with their own reelection to office than they are in making any of the tough decisions required to move the country forward! Ditto for Europe!
