No use for 9-1-1 here..............from Rico

I forgot where I saw this, but I admired the sentiment and then realized one of the 'signs' I have posting the property actually IS a modern version of this. It looks like the other rectangular "no trespassing, private property" signs but has the black outline of a 1911A1 below "we don't call 911."

911 isn't of much use anyway, I've called the Sheriff only to be asked (a) 'Is the property posted?' (they won't bother with civil trespass cases, only criminal trespass cases, and to find that (b) the response time was several hours (and the 'response' was a cell-phone call from a Deputy asking if there was still a 'problem' or not.
- It rather eminded me of a misadventure in Puerto Rico years ago. Some mates and I were stranded when the publico (public bus) stopped running for the day, and we had to hoof it through one of the tougher neighborhoods to get back to our hotel. Eventually a police cruiser stopped and rolled down the window one inch to ask us what we were doing? [Said cruiser had lights flashing but no siren, and approached at what looked a snail's pace from quite a distance.] The officer called for backup and made us wait outside his car until it arrived. [No way was he unlocking his car and letting us into it.]
- Riding with him to a safer/tourist part of town I remarked that he must be a pretty good policia to be wearing SGT stripes at such a young age. He replied "they shot the last one, and no one else wanted the job." I then asked him about cruising in slow-motion with his lights flashing. but with no siren and no apparent urgency, what was that about? He replied "that's so by the time we get there, there is no more trouble."

Needless to say, Messrs. Smith and Wesson are a lot handier to have on hand than the constabulary these days.
