Obama's Reelection vs. Israel's Existence............by Dan Friedman

[I’m guessing the fix is in and any serious differences between Obama and Netanyahu will be downplayed at their upcoming meeting. Most likely the two will return quietly to their corners and come out fighting another day. Even so, Obama has shown that he can lose control when he’s one-on-one with a Jew qua Jew. So this week’s meetings could be a replay of Netanyahu’s last trip to Washington. Recall, Bibi was blindsided by Obama’s ’67 borders gambit, only turn the tables on Obama in the Oval Office and in Congress in the ensuing days. This time the impulsively hubristic Obama has telegraphed his punches again, giving Netanyahu lead time to fine-tune his retort while still in D.C. – should that be what he decides to do. If a version of that May 2011 scenario does play out in public, it would signal that behind the White House curtains a great clash between Barack Hussein Obama and Israel is underway – as has been the case since Obama’s inauguration in 2009. But even if Obama manages to keep his hostility in check the next few days, it still won’t mean anything of substance has changed. df]
