We remain at war, and the costs are extremely high.

A terrible waste of life. What the West is doing in Afghanistan is completely illogical. Another defeat for Western arms and politics. The Chinese, Indians and the rest of the rising nations must be utterly amazed by this folly. A huge committment of arms to a rocky backwater yet no response to the two greatest sources of Islamic funding and terror - Saudi and Iran. Brilliant.
May all you fallen heroes Rest In Peace.
It's not about ideology nor strategy nor bad foreign policy made by corrupt or naive politicians.
It's the mission, the mission, the mission.
The troop's willingness to take on that single mission and focus all their efforts, no matter what the outcome, is in the blood, which flows through the veins of every true combat warrior.
I salute those brave warfighters.
God bless them, their families and their comrades!
I'd rather be a hammer than a nail.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.
If it was the next mission, I'd still want to be on the Chinook than on the ground with a hundred RPGs.
Correct me if I am wrong, but this kind of stuff should not happen if people do their jobs right.
