Back from a wonderful annual fishing expedition.
- The group is certainly wild. Two beers consumed the entire time between four of us, but we DID have fresh-caught fish daily and were justified in not bringing any groceries for just-in-case (beenie-weenies, etc). We've never been skunked yet, and within a few hours of arriving had filled our limits and guaranteed our supper.
I caught a 26-inch Walleye Pike and a 39-inch Northern Pike...both trophy-class fish...and planty of eaters, too. Except for what we will eat, catch-and-release is the order of the day so the trophies (I did not want to 'mount' my fish and it would be shameful to 'eat' them with no shortage of smaller fillet-sized fresh fish at hand) and many-many other fish were immediately set free once unhooked. Cousin Rex caught a 36-inch Northern Pike also, and we got a photo of that one and my Walleye which was caught that day (didn't have a camera in the boat for the 39-incher, so no pic...you'll have to trust me). Will eventually get these pics and can share them with unbelievers!
- When you get 'tired' from catching fish all day long, it's a GOOD thing and I do not expect I'll waste any time 'noodling' for catfish in the near future. This was just too much fun! We got a good workout/lotsa exercise, and it reminded me that my worst day fishing was better than my best day working!
Attached is a portion of the 'tape' decal used in the boat for size verification. This is next to a comic book about fishing that I snagged as a Father's Day gift for my Dad.
- Mindful that "all fishermen are born honest, but they get over it" I look forward very much to the digital pics ref'd infra of Rex and I holding our trophies in the boat before letting them go.
Now I pay the price of being unplugged and off the net for a few weeks! Thousands of e-mails and voice mails....yecch!
- It truly was GREAT without a phone or internet...while it lasted.
Cheers!
