* 1. The last person took the basket with the egg in it.
* 2. All the other card players were women.
* 3. Pour the juice from the second glass into the fifth.
* 4. The recluse lived in a lighthouse.
I couldn't figure out # 2! I do read this blog regularly, so there's an excuse.
Possible alternate answer for #4: The recluse lived in an apartment with gas lighting. He extinguished the flames, but left the gas running.
I admit, though, I like the lighthouse answer better.
#2; The fireman's name was embroidered on his shirt.
I suggest an alternative answer to the second one: the fireman was the only person with a name tag

or....the police ask three of the four male poker players their names and, finding no one named John, they arrest the fireman.
Or for #2, the police walk in and see the 3 other people dead on the floor. Leaving one fireman who's name doesn't matter because he's playing cards over the dead peoples bodies.
