I had the honor to meet a Marine, while visiting the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, Virginia, who watched the MacArthur dog and pony show from the beach. He and his buddies were drinking a few beers watching MacArthur do multiple takes of his "triumphant" return by landing craft. Of course, the area had been secured for weeks by the Marines by then.....told me, "He could have landed in a row boat....."
