Thats right £1 and 24pence a litre of which about 3/4 is tax!

Yeah, one pound twenty four pence for a litre of petrol - there's approx 5.1 litres in a gallon, which makes a gallon worth about £6.30. At the moment over here the pound is worth about $1.54. So a gallon in the US would cost around $4.1 US. What do you pay?

God, I'm getting annoyed that the Gas (Petrol) round my way is close to 1 dollar! You should move to Canada Theo
