I'm guessing this is a hotel, but where?

Altlanta Georgia. I forget the name of the hotel, but it's right downtown.

What you are seeing is one side of the interior structure of the hotel. The vertical wall on the left edge is a central hub where the elevators are located. Due to the unusual shape, standing inside on the ground floor and looking up makes one feel much like Jonah in the belly of the whale. It's really quite impressive.

This is the Shanghai Grand Hyatt, a stunning hotel on Pudong where the lobby is located on the 56th floor.

Looks like the Burgh al Arab (sp?), that crazy thing they put down in Dubai a few years ago.

It's in the Jin Mao tower in Shanghai/Pudong. As the second comment says, the bottom of this is the 56th floor! Been to the bar cloud 9 many times. It's where you can sneak the best look at this on your way up.

Funny, I thought it was the Howard Johnson's in Bug Tussle, Alabama. No?

The Portman designed hotel in Atlanta was the prototype for the internal atrium design. There are several larger versions of the design now. It became something of a cliche.
