The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn is a great example...........

Nurses who think it's not their job to care: NHS forced to remind staff to feed patients.

As many will know my mother is in hospital and this is so true of the 'treatment ' she has received. The junior staff are very good and try their hardest but the Doctors and Nurses are next to useless. The Doctors don't work weekends (except an on call Doctor) and the pharmacy is also shut during this period.

Whether this is down to staff shortages or bad management I don't know but am going to find out.

Well you have my deep sympathy.

All I'd add to your comments is this: My mother died in the 'care' of Gloucester Royal Infirmary. Frankly the clinical and medical treatment was useless, with no sense of pace or urgency. The result was that she died in considerable pain about a week after arrival. The Consultant admitted that they should have taken prompt action and had left things far too late. Worse, she herself had been a Senior Consultant in the NHS for many years and had spent her whole working life in the NHS - so she knew exactly what was (not) going on, but was too stoical to complain.

Whatever you do, make sure that you're on top of the situation and keep a very close eye on things. Do not allow anyone to fob you off with the usual platitudes - and ensure that you are being given clear and accurate information. It's usually best to keep a detailed contemporaneous log.

Best wishes.
