I say old chap, what part of China is that?
Just means more expensive to build (longer distance = more materials).
Why do you find it so strange? It's obviously a bridge between regions of opposite side of the road driving, so you have to intertwine the tracks. And since it needs to be done, why not make it visually appealing?
