Editors Note:

I know that a few of you are having problems with the 'you might like' thingy slowing down the site. It is under review 'til the end of the month. I will then look at it and decide whether to remove it or not. Please bear with me for a few more days.

Theo, just keep posting the stuff you do, and we'll bear with you.

Trust me.

I might also like a lot more Bedtime Totty!

Here's an urge from me to delete it ( especially if it is not giving you any revenue ).

Didn't slow my Firefox on an old PC down, and I did like the links!

It kills Safari. Then again, loading all thos vids and graphics doesn't help alot.

Please, for God's sake, replace it. It's bloody awful.

Apart from slowing the loading of each browser page, it's all very confusing. After clicking through on the links a few times, I'm rarely sure how to get back to the home page so I can finish reading the rest of the posts. I feel like Moses and the Israelites, wandering through the Sinai and wondering if I'll ever see the promised land again.

The blog scrolls down slowly, so if that widget's doin' it, well ... time for it to go.

Theo -

There are actually two problems here, both touched on up above.

First, the sheer length of the home page is going to suck up a ton of time getting loaded -- and that's not including the "You might like" stuff. And the vids take extra time because the preview pics are being loaded from various servers, some of them (like YouTube) fairly jammed. So the site's always going to be a little slow in loading, but that's the nature of the beast.

The annoying thing, as Donald mentioned, is the way the page won't scroll down smoothly, even after it's all loaded. If the widget (?) has a "pre-load all" feature, it'd be better to spend the extra time loading the page at the beginning.

But the bottom line, also expressed above, is that we'd much rather you stay afloat and make a few bucks with the ads, and if that makes it slightly more inconvenient for us, too bad.

I would suggest one more month for the 'You might like' ads, and set a minimum profit figure in your head. If they don't hit the goal, they're history. If they do, then keep 'em, and be on the lookout for a similar service but one that doesn't do the load-as-you-go routine like the present one does.

I can't see them at all and nothing on your site slows down my browser at all.

Must be because I use AdBlockPro and Ghostery on Firefox.

Bah, Sorry folks, it's just not worth it. I'm outa here, I'll check back after the first of the month to see how it all worked out. Hopefully you can make it enjoyable to visit. From way back in the "Posted by Theo" only days, I'ts been one of my favorite placs to browse, often several times a day.
