Could it be that AQ is sending over bombers who will fail on purpose?
Failed attacks like this latest one get lots of publicity and make life worse for infidel travelers. Successful attacks trigger the Pearl Harbor reflex. So, do you go for half a loaf at almost no cost, or the whole loaf at the risk of getting a US armored corps crossing the border with pictures of you on playing cards?
For all his technical ineptitude, Shahzad came very, very close to killing and wounding hundreds of Americans at a location symbolic of our country.
Had Shahzad been a suicide bomber willing to stay in that SUV, the outcome could have been painfully different.
Blowback from Times Square like outright American intervention in Pakistan as threatened this week end my be a harbinger for putting JaM and LeT personalities on playing cards...
