Unfortunately the article is wrong. It says if he goes supersonic he will be the first man to ever do so.
That was already done long ago by an A.F test pilot trying out the suits before U-2 and SR-71 flights commenced. He was lifted on a platform under a high altitude weather balloon and went supersonic in his jump. I need to get my google on to find the articles about him but they are certainly out there.
