the bird looks like a french alloutee III and the writing on the tail boom looks like it says "troupe." if the soldiers were holding up little white flags i would have no doubt that they were french. :)

Actually, this is a common method of insertion for SOF.
A helo can normally carry more weight in people than they can fit internally. So you carry them underneath.
Also allows you to insert them in a LZ that the helo cannot land on.
How about the Greek Army?
