Yes, but..... Several problems immediately spring to mind, eg airflow into the engines is altered, cg moved forward, extra weight on engine mounting pylons which affects wing flexing, extra weight means less fuel and/or pax can be carried. A shorter term fix could be installing lidar (laser radar in effect) so that pilots can see the dustiest bits of sky and fly round them.
