Record Numbers Now Licensed to Pack Heat

Firearms Deaths Fall as Millions Obtain Permits to Carry Concealed Guns

"Attorney Jim Corley was one of four people in the room, the lounge area of a 12-step recovery group’s meeting hall. “He said, ‘Give me your wallet,’” Corley recalled. “So I reached around to my back pocket and gave him what was there.”

"Unfortunately for the gunman, later identified as Kayson Helms, 18, of Edison, N.J., that was Corley’s tiny Kel-Tec .32, hidden in a wallet holster and loaded with a half-dozen hollow points. Corley fired once into the robber’s abdomen. The young man turned. Corley fired twice more, hitting him in the neck and again in the torso. Helms ran into the night and collapsed to die on a railroad embankment 100 feet away."

That's how we do things 'round these parts, son. Don't piss off a recovering lawyuh!

This is probably not going to be a popular comment - but in all sorts of ways that is an epically sad post. And believe me, in US terms, I am no bleedin' heart Liberal.

It is a sad post.

And in some states, Mr. Lawyer would now be a criminal defendant.

I posted it because it is a strange tale.

The second Amendment states that EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN has a RIGHT to carry OPENLY. I don't know anything about this concealed carry thing. I know there are areas in America where American Citizens cannot carry openly because of local laws, which the CONSTITUTION allows for.

I AM AN AMERICAN CITIZEN, and according to my RIGHT by the second amendment, I can carry a weapon OPENLY in America.

Eric. I have always been under the impression that one of the prime reasons behind the right of the American citizen to bear arms was because you are more afraid of the Government having the monopoly of violence, rather than each other. This might be because of where you came from - the pogroms in Russia (for example) and other countries where you suffered oppression by a State with the monopoly of violence.

Would that be the case?
