Nice. Taurus Judge. The Shotgun Pistol.

That has significantly less energy than .45 Colt (NOT Long Colt, COLT, there wasn't a short Colt in .45ACP when it came out, it was .45 COLT) that it somewhat fits in place of and a worse pattern than if it was a shotgun because the rifling ruins any pattern you might have, even if you choke it, with lousy accuracy with solid lead, due to the long lead before the bullet hits the rifling? (Gunsmith who hates .410 pistols comment) I'll build them all day long, for pay, but I'm laughing at you on the inside. It's really not as cool as you think if you learn maths.

Theoretically it's a lousy 67 gauge shotgun, in practice it isn't even that good of an idea and you can safely load .44Mag snakeshot MUCH hotter than you can safely load .410 if you don't know what the roud might end up in, eventually :-)

There's less chance of collateral damage if you learn to hit your target than if you can't hit targets center mass at birdshot or buck range, and you can put more energy in them.

Damn, Tom. It's such a treat when a super smart individual such as yourself vomits up an opinion that no one requested.

Everyone else - be sure to ask Tom what he thinks before you do anything. He'll let you know if it makes him laugh.

I disagree, Tom. You take that 3" 410 shot shell, loaded with 00 buck, and discharge it, say, across the width of a vehicle (the intended range) and you'll do worse damage on a gelatin target than any .44 Mag shot shell loaded mostly with #12 shot.

Oh, and the .45 LC (Long Colt) descriptor originated amongst period military personnel to prevent confusion with the smaller .45 Schofield.

g00gle is your friend.

Nobody ever has killed anybody with a Judge that anybody knows of, in spite of it's "known deadly nature". Nobody hunts with them either. They wouldn't stop a bear charge or a human charge.

I played with multiple .410 Pistol parrels of more useful length and chokings on Contender frames. I did range tests. You aren't going to get much penetration and the rifling doesn't do anything for getting a useful pattern Even with 18" barrels. Just because people sell things doesn't mean they are a good idea. I vomited up an opinion that I researched heavily with the usage of machine tools and multiple barrels and loadings. Feel free to buy what you want. It's your money. People buy them for the novelty of .410 in a handgun and then they pretty much never shoot them. Like I said, your money and Taurus has done good marketing.

If somebody found out I'm opinionated and doesn't like it, I got over worrying about that when I was about 7, so fire away. Shoot at me with a "Judge" loaded with #4, at 5 yards you'll only nick me with a pellet or two if you get lucky.
