No, it's not 'the' iconic monument in DC, but it IS the real thing!
- The 'first' flag-raising was heroic.
- The 'second' flag-raising was iconic (even if staged).
- BOTH are monumental testimonies to the USMC!
Iwo Jima is forever a part of the history of 'The Corps' and our nation.

I have always loved this photo for the truth that it shares, that one needs to be ever vigilent to threats in order to safegard liberty.
The 2nd photo was NOT STAGED! Joe Rosenthal took the shot has it happened, but thought that he had missed it. What he staged, was a group photo taken afterward.
