The other two are set to "do not show extensions for known file types", but yours is not. When you go to rename a file, you are also overwriting the extension, leaving it as an unknown file type. (I think - I haven't used XP at home for a while).
SezaGeoff
are you trying to rename the file extension?
First go into Control Panel>Folder Options>View tab. Uncheck the option to hide file extensions for known filetypes. Now you will see the file extension after the last dot i.i .mp3 for a music file or .doc for MS Word. When renaming, do not change the file extension.
Thanks Michael it worked. Makes my life a lot easier.
It is simply warning you that, if you try to change the extension on an image or video, it might become undisplayable.
