I'd love to know what the group was doing there in the first place. If I had to guess I'd say a group of disgruntled Global Warmers unhappy that it was snowing. I have low/no tolerance for those a-holes.
First of all the picture in this story does not show a gun, that was the walkie talkie that he was using to call for back up (as he was one against Oh about 30). The gun, was always pointed at the ground (this can be clearly seen in the video footage), and was only out when he got out of the car and unsure what he was facing got out to face a crowd of unruly idiots that he had the gun out. He never waved the gun around, or pointed it at anyone!
I call them idiots, because they were throwing snow balls at moving cars, this is distracting and potentially dangerous to those driving, what if there had been an accident? When I am driving in snow, I am typically tense (worried about the car slipping) and would have hated to have my car pelted with snowballs. What if I lost control of the car and killed someone else, or myself? Would not seem like such a laughing matter then? Idiots!!!!!!!!!!!
I would like all those calling the cop an idiot to recall when another cop was called names and where the person in question was then hauled off to jail (remember the professor at Harvard?). This officer was called names, taunted and had snowballs thrown at him, but he never lost his temper and was firm, but never overboard with what he did.
Frankly I if I were in his shoes, and I am typically a lefty anti police brutality person, but I don't really see what he did wrong. The gun was never pointed at anyone, he put it away as soon as he saw that the situation was not dangerous.
