Reason TV: Your Flight Has Been Delayed--And It's Washington's Fault!

As the video points out, this is as much a problem made from the employees union as it is with the gov.

Unions need labor/bodies for votes and political juice.

Older tech is more manpower intensive. Older tech requires more bodies and the bodies are union dues and the union dues are political purchasing power.

We're seeing the same problem in our longshoremen unions in our ports.

In fact, we're seeing a rather wholesale collapse of all union dominated industries.

An interesting video. As a retired Cdn Controller, this is not completely accurate. The thing you DON'T want is to have the airlines run ATC (trust me). That being said, there are certainly efficiencies that could be realized.

"Central Flow Control...Washington" (the equipment is actually situated in Boston, I believe) came into being when "Uncle" Ronnie fired 11,345 American controllers and gutted the system of it's experienced staff...bad move. The airlines loved it !! They could cancel scheduled flights, fly full (combined) flights and bettered the bottom line.

Here is the main cause of delays: there aren't enough gates to handle the increased number of flights. You can build all the runways/taxi-ways you want but if you don't have the gates, you don't have squat. And here's the kicker: all those ATC delays the airlines tell you about...at least 50% (maybe more) are AIRLINE DELAYS not ATC delays.

Happy flying !!

Cheers.
