"Gun sales shoot up amid America’s fear of rising crime and terrorism"
Leave it to the Times to totally miss what people are actually buying them for... the fear of their own government. The fear that because the Won and party are in control of the government now, there will be a push to take the people's ability to defend themselves from a repressive regime. There have been many attempts over the years to diminish gun owner's rights, some of them blatant (Brady Bill), and some a bit of a stretch (health care - can't own anything that you might harm yourself or others with), but always a continuous attack on the second amendment.
The actual sales started going through the roof over a year ago when the "democrat" party came to power.... and shot up when we have the guy who said "I won" as the answer to their hope and change came to power.
So their is fear (the gun purchasers) of crime.... fear the crime will be the gun owner becoming criminal just because he owns a weapon... passed by fiat from elected officials who want to do away with that inconvenient document... the constitution of the United States.
